The staff at Bickford is dedicated to the people who live here. Our certified recreation director develops varied activities and programs to meet the individual needs and abilities of every resident. Whether it is crafts, educational projects, shopping trips, or just a friendly ear, at Bickford there is something for everyone. In addition to our staff, community residents graciously give their time and energy to our volunteer program. This brings people from the area into Bickford to give our residents yet another connection to the community.
Our Staff
Duncan Hunter, Administrator
Duncan comes to Bickford Health Care Center with a strong background in health care administration and experience in CT, MA, and NY. Demonstrating his commitment to long term care, Duncan earned the credentials of CNHA (Certified Nursing Home Administrator) and Fellow from the American College of Health Care Administration (FACHCA). Often you will find Duncan working along side the staff and families finding ways to improve the quality of life for all his residents.
Sandra Maragnano, RN, DNS Sandra comes to Bickford with many years experience in nursing and in skilled nursing facilities.
She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), then became a LPN and finally an
RN. She has been a MDS coordinator, Assistant Director of Nurses and a Director of Nurses.
Her commitment to quality and compassionate care comes through in all she does. Sandra can often

Heather Turton, Director of Social Services
Heather has a B.A. in sociology from UCONN and has worked in health care for over twelve years. She has experience as a Social Worker and as an Admissions Coordinator and in her last position was involved in marketing. She brings good organizational and listening skills to the Social Services Department.
Denise Grondin, Director of Admissions
Working for over twenty years in health care, concentrating in business office functions, Denise has extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's, private insurance, and other reimbursement options.
Rehabilitation
Our fully equipped rehabilitation department provides occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy to our residents. Four attending physicians attend to their physical and emotional needs.
Meals and Dietary Needs
Another important part of our home life is the pride we take in serving carefully prepared meals with every consideration for the special dietary needs and tastes of our residents.
